Mission
My mission is to contribute to and provide aid for the personal healing of men, women, teens, and children battling the effects of trauma, addictions, or mental health conditions. My purpose is to create a compassionate, non-judgmental environment that provides support to the individuals on their journey to the cultivation of a positive, empowered mindset. I consider it a privilege to be able to help individuals on their steps to self-improvement, providing support and understanding every step of the way.
About Me
Hi, I'm Cathy Olivares – Mental Health Counselor and Advocate for Well-Being
Life is a journey, and sometimes the road can feel overwhelming, lonely, or filled with obstacles that seem impossible to overcome. With over 14 years of experience in mental health, I’ve dedicated my career to walking alongside individuals on their unique paths, offering support, guidance, and the tools needed to navigate life's challenges. Whether you're grappling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, bipolar disorder, or the complexities of trauma and abuse, my mission is to help you rediscover your strength, resilience, and the light within.
My experience spans a wide range of settings and populations. I’ve worked in NYC homeless shelters, where I’ve provided vital support to those facing severe psychological disorders, such as schizophrenia and dual diagnosis. In outpatient clinics and private practices, I’ve guided individuals and families through the complexities of life transitions, from divorce and separation to identity issues and acculturation challenges. I’ve also had the privilege of working with children and adolescents, particularly those with behavioral problems, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and mild autism, helping them and their families find harmony and hope.
My approach is person-centered and holistic because I believe that healing is deeply personal and multifaceted. I meet you where you are, respecting your unique journey, cultural background, and the challenges you face. Together, we craft a path forward that feels right for you. I integrate cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and solution-focused counseling, tailoring each session to meet your specific needs. I also draw from psychoanalytic approaches when it’s helpful to explore deeper patterns that may be influencing your current struggles.
But my work doesn’t stop at the individual level. I’ve had the incredible opportunity to apply my skills in corporate and industrial psychology, where I’ve helped organizations foster healthier, more supportive environments. At BSE Global, I’ve collaborated with teams to bring mental health to the forefront of their corporate culture, ensuring that employees feel supported and empowered. My work with the Gotham Soccer Team and the Rockettes has been equally rewarding, where I’ve provided sports psychology support to help these elite athletes and performers maintain their mental and emotional well-being, achieve peak performance, and navigate the unique pressures they face.
What drives me is a deep passion for helping people transform their lives. I understand that reaching out for help can be daunting, and I’m here to make that journey as supportive and compassionate as possible. My style is warm, collaborative, and empowering—I’m not just here to listen, but to work with you, hand in hand, to create real, lasting change.
I believe in the power of small, consistent steps. Just as physical health requires dedication, so does mental health. Together, we’ll work on building the skills, strategies, and resilience you need to not just overcome your current challenges, but to build a life filled with purpose, joy, and fulfillment. Whether you’re an individual seeking personal growth, a family navigating complex dynamics, or an organization striving for a healthier work environment, I’m here to help.
Let’s take that first step together. You deserve to live a life that reflects your true potential, and I’m committed to helping you get there.
